Fibre to the Home – what you need to know
September 2011
At Live in Lincoln all sections include fibre optics right to your boundary. Chorus, New Zealand's largest telecommunications utility company, will install the fibre optics while WorldxChange Communications (WxC) will deliver your telecommunications service.
At Lincoln Xnet Fusion is provided by WxC and is described as 'a convergent voice, data and media product that is delivered over a single line, eliminating the need for separate voice and Internet access service. In fibre-connected homes, the true power of Xnet Fusion will be brought to life as subscribers will enjoy faster speeds, more reliability and as products become available, more services than ever before.'
There are certain wiring standards that must be adhered to for houses in a reticulated area and home owners need to be aware of these when they are building.
For information on installing fibre to the home please visit the Chorus website at brightspark.org.nz.
Chorus have also provided a brochure, Chorus Guide to Connecting to Fibre Optic Networks for homeowners, architects, and builders and this is downloadable here.

CERA Video aims to help show what has happened to land around Christchurch -
August 2011
The Canterbury Earthquake Authority (CERA) has launched a video aimed at helping people understand what earthquakes have done to the land around Christchurch.
CEO Roger Sutton says people are really keen to know about geotechnical issues and what is going on with the land around them. The video is fronted by CERA chief geotechnical engineer Dr Jan Kupec, Dr Kupec is also the Aurecon geotechnical engineer used by Ngāi Tahu Property at our residential developments in Lincoln and Prestons Road.
Roger Sutton says, "We put together a simple video that will go up on http://www.youtube.com/cerachch that explains what is actually happening with the land. We tried to make the video a little bit light hearted, as it's a pretty heavy subject but we know that people want to find out how the earthquakes impact on the land and what it means for them."
If you would like to view the video it is available on www.youtube.com/cerachch or you can click here.

site inspections have been undertaken by Aurecon and the land has
performed as expected with no signs of liquefaction, lateral spreading
or other damage.
